When Chatty Goes Down 😉

Alternatives to Keep Your Workflow Smooth

I like to interrupt my workflow midweek with some light, fun brainstorming while watching a show. The show I'm binging right now is CSI Miami. Yes it’s old. No, I don’t care because I love me some Horatio Cane and Eric Delko (a story for another time).

After catching up on scheduling content for a client last week, I plugged in my Christmas lights, took my laptop and throw blanket to my couch, and opened up my brainstorming partner ChatGPT.  I call it “Chatty.” Imagine my surprise when I went to the website and it was blank except for a few usual icons like the navigation menu, new chat, and paperclip.

Suddenly, my brainstorming session turned into a troubleshooting mission. At one point, I was channelling my inner Horatio Cane, glasses in hand, trying to solve the case of Chatty ghosting me.

I restarted my browser, laptop, and internet modem. Nothing.

At this point, I’m annoyed because I planned my week days ago. After trying to log in in on my iPad and phone, I turned to my girl X (formerly Twitter) who has all the tea. One search of “ChatGPT down” and my phone was flooded with a flurry of tweets complaining about the site crashing in the middle of homework, work, research, and the list goes on.

So, I turned to AI tools like ChatGPT. Specifically Copilot. However, these tweets made me realize that many people are clueless about other AI tools they can use when ChatGPT is down.

Just like solving a case in CSI Miami, you need multiple tools to get the job done.

Here is my list of ChatGPT alternatives you can use:

Copilot

Corporate people may use Copilot to draft emails and summarize content, but I use it when I am doing research and need references for an article. It answers my questions with quotes from the source and shares a link to the source too.

TinyWow

TinyWow is good for tasks such as essay writing, rephrasing sentences for clarity, creating custom images for presentations, and more.

Notion AI

Notion AI is like ChatGPT and can be accessed via Notion’s website or app. You can chat with it about anything. I once used it for my full-time job to create a rotation schedule for ads based on the advertiser’s instructions, and I was impressed.

CopyAI

My marketing friends will love this one. CopyAI has many templates generated from use cases, for blog posts, social media content, email marketing, and other marketing content.

Having backup tools keeps the flow of your productivity going and reduces stress when the unexpected happens. What’s your go-to backup when your favourite tool isn’t working? Comment below, I’d love to hear about them!

This blog is a mini outlet for my ramblings about my experience as a 9-to-5er by day and hustler by night. I pen my thoughts with the hopes that others will feel encouraged and find some useful tidbits here and there. I do not claim to know it all because I am not perfect, so please share your feedback.
